HONG KONG OCCUPY CENTRAL
|
September 22nd, 2014, the Hong Kong Federation of Students and Scholarism gathered around the Government Headquarters to protest against the August 31st decision. Later several hundred student demonstrators blocked and occupied several public streets. This is not the first action against the decision (there was a online voting before this), but it is certainly the one raises the most attention. The students did not initiate the action, but the professors of the school did. The professors decided to stop the Occupy Central and the protests. Many politicians are unsure whether the students will follow the grown-ups advice at this point. While the scale of protests greatly decreased, recently the student leader Joshua Wang announced hunger strike, and more students from different leagues joined to protest around the government building. Another student leader said that Joshua Wang did not consult him about the hunger strike decision, and he was unaware of the decision. We now see divided opinions occur even among the students themselves.
The nature of this "Civil Disobedience" seems to be controversial, and opinions are really divided at this point.
